Healthy or Not? A Week of Food English
Hold up a doughnut and an apple, and ask a small child which one is healthy — they know. They always know. That little spark of “I know this!” is the perfect doorway into a whole week of food English.
Over five short days, children sort foods into healthy and sometimes food, meet one food group per day, and build their own food pyramid poster. My favourite moment is the hand-tracing activity: each finger gets coloured for a food group, and suddenly “how often we eat what” makes sense to a four-year-old.

At your next snack, hold up the food and ask, in English, with a serious game-show face: “Banana… healthy?” Cheer the answer. That two-second quiz, three times a day, is a real English habit — and it’s free.
