Easter Bunnies: Hop, Mime, and Make

Easter is a vocabulary meadow: bunny, egg, ears, hop, basket, spring. These two crafts need almost nothing and work from age two — with a movement game in the middle so nobody has to sit still for long.

Warm-up: become a bunny

Before crafting, transform. Call out the actions in English and do them together, big and silly:

Hop! Hop! Hop! Wiggle your nose! Ears up… ears down! Munch the carrot — munch munch munch!

Two minutes of this and the words hop, nose, ears, munch are already half-learned. Bodies first, words after — that’s how little ones do it.

Craft 1: bunny egg cups (age 2+)

Take a paper or foam cup, and together add:

• pipe-cleaner ears (bend them floppy or proud)
• googly eyes and a pom-pom nose
• whiskers drawn with marker

Name each part in English as it goes on: “Eyes! Nose! Ears!” — the craft is secretly a body-parts lesson. Pop a chocolate egg inside and it’s an Easter table decoration.

Craft 2: the cotton-tail mask

For the littlest ones, pre-cut a simple bunny mask shape and let them stick cotton balls all over it — wonderful for small fingers. Children four and up can draw and cut their own mask (with help on the scissors).

Masks on: hop the warm-up game one more time, in character.

At home: hide paper eggs around one room and hunt them in English — “Where’s the egg? Under the chair? Behind the door?” Prepositions, the fun way.
