Counting with Bees: Numbers 1–10
Little learners love bees — and bees love counting! In this lesson we learn the numbers one to ten with a buzzing chant, a movement game, and a printable meadow scene.
Warm-up: the buzzing chant
Say each number slowly, then buzz once for each:
One bee — bzz! Two bees — bzz bzz! Three bees — bzz bzz bzz!
Keep going until ten. Children clap on the number and buzz with you.
Movement game: fly to the flower
Place paper flowers around the room and number them 1–10. Call out a number in English — the children “fly” to the right flower, flapping their arms like wings. Start slow, then speed up as confidence grows.
Wind-down
Sit in a circle and count backwards from ten to one, getting quieter with each number, until everyone is resting in the “hive”.
At home: count everyday things together — stairs, spoons, socks. Ten seconds of counting in English at bedtime works wonders.
